Leaks and Asbestos Demand Significant Remodel of PA Home
The owner of a Dutch colonial home in Ridley Park, PA saw Porter’s work on another home in the area and loved the finished product. He thought the price was fair for the superior service.
During the inspection, we discovered old asbestos in the home’s siding, an older leaking roof, and a chimney that was pulling away from the house at the top and leaking into the home. Even though we were doing a roof and siding inspection, we were thorough on all aspects of the exterior of his home, which is how we detected the chimney problems. Our team used the pictures taken during the inspection to create a 3D model so our client could see different colors and designs on their house.
New James Hardie Siding, Roof, and Gutters Give New Life to Old Home
We replaced the asbestos-ridden siding with James Hardie siding in Grey Slate, AZEK trim in white, aluminum cappings, and aluminum gutters. The roof got entirely new GAF HDZ shingles in Charcoal. We were happy to recommend a trusted expert in the area who could fix their chimney.
Overcoming Rot and Asbestos Challenges
When we removed the roof shingles to replace them, we discovered that the sheathing underneath was rotten. We contacted the homeowner, explained the problem, and gave him good options for a solution along with an explanation of why the extra cost would benefit him in the long term. Even with this extra work, our team was able to source all the necessary materials and finish the roof in one day!
When it came time for the asbestos to be removed, a next-door neighbor was concerned about the danger to her house as it was only 20 feet away. After careful planning, we were able to come up with a solution for the removal that pleased everyone, which was, in fact, above and beyond what the state and local laws require.
